Of all the models in Volvos lineup, the V70 posted the highest sales reduction at 46.1 percent. Last years April sales for the V70 reached only 464 units and this year it only reached 250 units. Year to date sales is also affected with its 37.6 percent slide.

Of the eight models in Volvos lineup in the United States, only two posted increased sales for the past month - the C70 and the S80. Last month, sales for the C70 reached 477 units - a 9.7 percent increase over April 2006s 435 units. Year to date sale for the Volvo C70 also showed good promise of a better future for the Ford-owned Swedish brand. Last year, during the first four months, Volvo only sold 520 units of the C70 while this year, year to date sale already reached 1,488 units, an increase of 186.2 percent.

Another model showing increased sale is the S80. From last years 922 units sold for the month of April, Volvo reported that they have sold 990 units of the said model last month by showing an increase of 7.4 percent. Year to date sale is also increased by 55.2 percent. For the first four months of 2006, Volvo only sold 2,637 units of the S80 while this year, they have already delivered 4,093 units for the first four months.

The complete lineup of Volvo in the United States is composed of the following: the S40, V50, S60, V70, C70, S80, XC70 and the XC90. All of these are known for their long list of safety features and reliable components such as the Volvo fuel pump and other quality parts.

Save Taxes On Hybrid Cars

Did you know that you can save money on taxes if you buy a hybrid car? However, the total amount you save will depend completely upon the tax program that is in effect at the time of purchasing the hybrid car.

There are basic qualifying criteria for getting taxes reduced and the reduction can be as much as $2,000, if not more. This tax saving can be done whether you itemize your expenses or you take a standard deduction. In order to avail tax reduction, you must buy a brand new car, the car should be for your own use, it must be for your use in the U.S., and it must meet all federal and state emission requirements.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 came into effect from January 1, 2006. It offers you tax credit instead of clean fuel tax deduction and it valid for all hybrid cars and vehicles. The difference between tax deduction and tax credit is very simple. In tax deduction the amount is subtracted from your income before the tax is calculated. However, in tax credit, the deduction happens from the actual tax amount that you owe for the year.

The tax credit has been formed taking gas saving into perspective and you will end up getting a tax credit ranging from approximately $1,600 to $3,000 depending on the type of hybrid you purchase.

If you have not availed this benefit, it is time you started thinking about it because the tax credit program ends officially by 2009, but it will end much earlier for many models as there is a 60,000 vehicle limit in place for each manufacturer.

Cars Running on Water - A Modern MPG Miracle

Have you been wondering what all the hype around cars running on water is all about? With gas prices hovering well above reasonable, it's no wonder thousands of people have decided to supplement their gasoline with various products to get the most out of their gas tanks. But how can water save you money at the pump?

Did you know that some of the very first internal combustion engines were actually ran using hydrogen? Surely you've heard a lot of the talk about auto manufacturers releasing new models in the near future that run on hydrogen for fuel, with the only exhaust being water vapor. Did you also know that water can be easily converted into a hydrogen/oxygen gas that can be burned along with regular gasoline in your engine? It's true!

There are now thousands of cars running on water and saving gasoline using this technology. By adding the combustible HHO gas into the chamber along with gasoline, you are able to supplement the engines power and improve fuel economy. Reports of cleaner emissions have been floating around as well, which can be helpful if you have a vehicle that won't currently pass emissions in your State or County.

Although some companies are building and installing these systems, they generally charge upwards of $1,000 for a complete system. You might be interested to know that most cars running on water use systems that were actually built by the drivers themselves for under $100.

Using a handful inexpensive parts, a system can be built that converts the water into a gas through electrolysis. This gas that is generated is also known as HHO Gas or Brown's Gas. Simple setups consist of only a reservoir to hold the water, a few wires for electricity, and a tube leading to your vehicles air intake. Just like anything else, you don't have to completely understand the science behind it to use it. These can be made to run anytime the vehicle is on, so you never have to remember to flip the switch off or on.

You could start saving gas as early as tomorrow! Discover how to build your own HHO fuel kit by visiting Bruce's website.

HHO Gas Car Modification - How Can a Hybrid Car Save You Thousands of Dollars a Year

Driving a car can be truly expensive. Especially today with gas prices going through the roof and showing no signs of letup, it's important to find ways in which to save money on your car.

One of the increasingly popular ways is to turn your car into a hybrid. What does a hybrid car mean? It means that your car runs on water and fuel, not just on fuel. Well, to be more accurate, it runs on a gas known as HHO and fuel.

This is how it goes: you put gas as you normally do, but add a little water into a special container under the hood of your car. This water container is than attached to your car battery, so that while you drive, the water in the container undergoes an electric process which turns that water into HHO. Don't worry, an HHO gas car modification is very simple to do and hardly costs anything. The best news is that HHO is a gas that burns extremely well and releases a ton of energy in the process. By having an HHO gas car modification, your car can utilize that energy with the the energy you get from gasoline or diesel in order to run. And it burns less fuel in the process.

How much less? Well, that depends on the type of car you drive, but some people report an increase in mileage of up to 60%! I'm not kidding. It's on record. So, you can basically save nearly half of your gas dollars by having this simple HHO gas modification. Now how much money does that come up to? That depends on how much you drive, but it surely gets into the hundreds of dollar a year if not more.

Another benefit of having your car run on HHO is that your engine actually runs quieter and better than it does on regular gas alone. This has been tested extensively. This means that you'll also be able to cut down on the amount of money you spend on repairs. Another few hundred dollars each year. HHO is safe to your engine.

Combined, having an HHO gas car modification, can literally save you thousands of dollars each year and is very affordable. In fact, you can do it yourself in your driveway.

The SLR McLaren Super Sports Car Roadster

Mercedes-Benz is planning to release soon in the market a SLR McLaren super sports car roadster with a top. And in keeping with the Formula 1 vehicles of today the German division of DaimlerChrysler will employ carbon fiber--- which is a type of material used for vehicles of today that possess a very high degree of safety and extreme torsional stiffness---similar to the SLR McLaren coupe version. This will provide the upcoming super sports car roadster with a combination of racing type chassis coupled with outstanding ride characteristics.

The new Roadster will be powered by same AMG V8 compressor engine as the McLaren coupe producing 617 bhp, and uses the same AMG Speedshift R five-speed automatic transmission that will enable the Roadster to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in a matter of 3.2 seconds. The maximum speed of the Roadster will remain at 332 km/h or 207 mph same as that of the coupe.

The retractable top of the Roadster provides pure open-air driving pleasure and despite its luxurious feel it still makes a suitable mode of everyday transport. With the coming of the new Roadster it will surely open up a new dimension in terms of refinement for convertible super sports car.

And just like the McLaren coupe version the new Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster will also be equipped with loads of stunning Mercedes-Benz accessories. It is also said that the new Roadster is more of a blend of the legendary SLR racing models dating back to the 50s with that of the innovative technology of modern Formula 1 vehicles from the Vodafone-McLaren-Mercedes team.

The new Roadster will also sport some typical styling elements like the arrow-shaped tip derived from the Formula 1 Silver Arrow, distinctive lateral louvers, wide opening gullwing doors, and side pipes behind the front wheels are styling from the SLR legend of the 50s.

The new Roadster has benefited immensely from the long years of experience of both Mercedes-Benz and its Formula 1 partner McLaren. It is demonstrated in every components and styling details that the Roadster has. Take for instance the vehicles two aluminum engine frames and its entirely carbon-fiber body which makes the vehicle unique from among the high-performance sports cars.

The Roadsters carbon-fiber technology was developed further for the monocoque chassis which resulted to its low weight and outstanding energy absorption capability providing occupants with additional amount of safety and a degree of torsional stiffness which have not been attained in any open-top vehicles ever produced. This leads to remarkable ride qualities which are only found in closed-top super sports cars.

The incomparable qualities of the new SLR McLaren Roadster are also attributed to the fully retractable top that blends perfectly with the fluid lines of the Roadster. Moreover its newly developed roof material available in three colors is not only suitable for everyday weather conditions but also provide the Roadster with characteristics that are unique in a roadster. For instance at 332 km/h which is the maximum attainable speed of the roadster, conversation is still possible even with the top opened and such is attributed to the remarkable aeroacoustics that the vehicle possess.

The top is also very easy and quick to operate. It only takes 10 seconds to open and close the top. And since aluminum cover is incorporated into its front section, the roof gracefully closes off the top once retracted. If theres one thing that the new Roadster can boast of it would be its high degree of safety which is guaranteed by its one-of-a-kind carbon fiber crash elements, steel reinforced A-pillars and tow fixed rollover bars. Add to it the comprehensive list of safety features that include adaptive airbags, knee and side airbags, belt tensioners, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Its exclusive standard equipment is comprised of semi-aniline-upholstered carbon-fiber bucket seats which are adaptable to both the driver and the front passenger through the use a range of seat pads; a high-quality BOSE premium sound system; dual-zone automatic air-conditioning; a multifunction sport steering wheel with gear-change paddles, and a Navigation system with integral radio and CD Player.

The new SLR McLaren Roadster just like the McLaren coupe is going to be built at McLarens Formula 1 factory in Woking, England and would be created in accordance to the strict quality criteria of Mercedes-Benz. The new Roadster is scheduled to hit dealerships in September 2007.

Tips On Buying A Used Car

People buy a used car for a variety of reasons. The most common basis for buying a used car is that these vehicles offer them a chance to own a vehicle without spending much. Of course, when you do purchase a used car, it is important that you do know what to look for when buying one. That way, you would be getting, possibly much more than what you paid for.

If you have already set your eyes on a used car, the most important thing that you need to do would be to have and take a look at the vehicles car history records. Ask the dealer or the party selling the car for these records. Do not buy a vehicle that has already been flooded for it would only prove to be useless to you. If it has already been in a serious accident, set your eyes on another vehicle instead. There are a lot of used cars being offered in the market so do not hesitate to look for another one.

You also have to check the oil of a used car. Look for the engine oil dipstick and pull it out. Wipe it off and insert it. Then, pull it out again. Now, take a close look at the oil dipstick. If the oil is completely black, there might be a very low oil level or there is excessive oil consumption. These kinds of situations would and could lead to further complications and problems in the future which is something that you would not like. Also, it is important that you check for possible oil leaks as well as the oil pressure.

Scrutinize the vehicle. And try to look for any issues in the used car that could lead to further problems. Also, look for any conditions that might only make the car worthless. If you do find any kind of evidence of badly made repairs, do not purchase that vehicle. It would only bring you great headaches once you own that vehicle.

If you purchased a used vehicle in good condition but you would still like to spruce it up and make it look like new, Auto Parts Fast has an extensive stock of dependable and long-lasting Geo parts and Saab parts.

American Muscle - Ford, Dodge and Chevy

Back during the 1950s through the mid 1970s, Detroit automakers produced several cars that were out and out "muscle" cars. These types of vehicles shared the same characteristics: they were two door coupes with souped up engines, responsive transmissions, an aggressive exterior design, and a sporty interior. High fuel prices and changing tastes eventually limited sales to the point where only a few models were produced beyond that period of time. Today, muscle car mania is back, despite even higher gas prices. Thanks to the Ford Mustang and to a lesser extent to sedan and wagon models from Dodge, there is new interest in a category long given up. The future is bright for the muscle car segment as one more manufacturer, Chevrolet, considers bringing back one of its darlings of yesteryear, the Camaro.

Besides the Ford Mustang there were a whole host of vehicles produced that at one time or another might have been considered a muscle car. In addition to the Mustang, the Ford Fairlane 500 and Ford Torino did duty; the Mercury Montego was another model; Chevrolet produced the Camaro and Corvette; Pontiac the GTO, Firebird, and Tempest; Olds the 442; American Motors' had its Javelin; Plymouth had the 'Cuda, and Dodge produced the Challenger and the Charger. Today, only the Mustang and Corvette survives although the Dodge Charger has returned as a four door muscle car along with its sibling, the hot Dodge Magnum wagon.

Interestedly, it took Ford's redoing of the Mustang for the 2005 model year to stir the current muscle car era craze. Styled after Mustangs built in the 1960s, the current Mustang embraces a retro look while incorporating contemporary technology. The result has been that the Mustang currently sells its entire 150,000 model capacity without incentives.

The Mustang has been inspiring DaimlerChrysler to go ahead with a retro cruiser of its own. The Dodge Challenger concept car, appearing at auto shows across the USA, has been a huge hit and Chrysler plans on bringing the V8 hemi powered model back in 2009. In addition, General Motors is considering giving its blessing on the Camaro, another car also making the rounds of the USA auto show circuit.

So, isn't it silly to bring back such gas hogs? Back during the early 1970s, the then current crop of muscle cars averaged only 10-12 miles to the gallon around town and 15 or 16 miles per gallon on the highway. Thanks to computer technology and efficiency, even the Corvette returns a highly respectable 28 miles to the gallon the highway. So, although fuel mileage will certainly be lower than many other models, the new group of muscle cars will still better the previous generation cars with fuel mileage 80% or more above the cars from the 1970s.

Fortunately, we still live in a fairly free country and what the consumer wants, the consumer gets. So, V8 powered muscle cars mated to 6 speed manu-matic transmissions, with sport handling, bucket seats, and better fuel economy will likely appeal to many. No, they won't be exact duplicates of yesterday's muscle cars, but they will provide the nostalgia and power that motorists seek. I can't wait!

How to Make Your Own Hybrid Car

Hybrid cars are all the rage today. When you see that Toyota Prius gliding by on silent engines, you drool at its sleek, shiny look, the new upholstery and that new-car smell. This, and other hybrid cars, are the next wave of fuel-sipping cars of the future. How about if I tell you you can have your very own hybrid car, and its sitting in your garage. Right now.

In the strictest terms, a hybrid vehicle is "a vehicle that uses two or more distinct power sources to propel the vehicle." For this purpose, the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) will be used as a comparison. HEV's have an internal combustion engine and an electric motor in one chassis. This is what gives the HEV its phenomenal mileage gains.

HEV's reduce fuel wastage by addressing the following situations:

-Lower energy lost during idling by turning off the gas engine

-Recharge the electric batteries while running the combustion engine, by regenerative braking, or both

-Making the combustion engine smaller in size and power, maximizing output of the gas engine and reducing weight and wastage of work (about 20% of engine power is used to directly move the wheels, the rest is lost to combustion, noise, or unburned fuel)

Needless to say, owning a hybrid car is expensive. Cutting edge technology and having bragging rights usually is.

If you don't have the budget, 3rd party hybrid kits are also available to convert conventional cars to a hybrid system. However, like the above, the cost is still prohibitive. Might as well buy a hybrid car, why don't you?

No, 3rd party hybrid kits are not what this article is about.

So what is the goal of having a hybrid car? It's all about mileage, getting the most miles per gallon (MPG) or kilometers per liter (KPL). And if its mileage you need, you only need to look at the faucet. Water. Or in more better terms. Hydrogen and Oxygen.

Yes, hydrogen-on-demand systems are like hybrid systems, except a lot more value for your money. You don't have to buy a new car for it. It will work just fine on the car you've been driving for the past five, ten, and twenty years.

And it will breathe new life in your car.

Hydrogen is surprisingly not a new technology. It has been around in the 19th century as a way to light gaslight, using "oxyhydrogen" to heat piece of limestone to illuminate the night.

Though usage of pure hydrogen is a few years away from being perfected, someone got the great idea to, why not just mix it with conventional gas or diesel? Eureka. A way to gain unimaginable mileage at a fraction of the cost of a hybrid car. This system is called hydrogen-on-demand (HOD).

An HOD system is a vehicle-mounted hydrogen and oxygen delivery method that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen through the process of electrolysis. The power is drawn from the batteries and the hydrogen-oxygen mix (HHO) is drawn into the engine for combustion. Naysayers say that this is an impossible process as it takes more energy to generate hydrogen to fully power a car engine.

But who said anything about running a car on pure hydrogen? Why not mix it with gas or diesel? Eureka once more. It only takes minute amounts of hydrogen to create a powerful combustion with gas or diesel.

The following effects are confirmed when hydrogen is introduced into an internal combustion engine and compressed:

-Water vapor comes out the exhaust as a result of HHO ignition

-Exhaust emissions smell less of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide as HHO burns the mixture more completely and requires less fossil fuel in every cycle.

-Mileage increases by 12%-70% depending on make, model, driver attitude, and supporting devices

-The engine releases more energy than ethanol-based mixes, maintaining the overall power of the car

-Fuel is burned more completely which gives cleaner emissions

-Fuel octane level are raised because hydrogen improves anti-knocking properties, making the engine quieter

-Lowers overall engine temperature

-Requires the engine to use less gas per cycle

Is it safe?

HOD systems generate hydrogen only on demand and are therefore safe. When no electricity is routed through the HOD system, no reaction is generated. No hydrogen is in storage in this system but is kept in medium, which is basically water.

Cost?

Parts are sourced from everyday parts found in hardware shops and basic electronics stores. Total cost for a basic unit can range between $70 to over $200 USD.

What's offered by most HOD enterprises are plans for do-it-yourself systems, with offers to build the system for the consumer if they so wish. This way the customer can opt to build it himself or to buy a unit once the concept is understood after obtaining the plans to prevent fraud.

Do You Think That Hydrogen Conversion Kit is a Scam? Well, Read Below

Unluckily, Hybrid cars prove to be some of the Worst Polluters!

Are they?, you must ask. Well, have you ever read the label on the rechargeable batteries? You are not allowed to throw them out. They are toxic and contain heavy metals which can pollute ground water. The hybrid car batteries are also rechargeable batteries weighing around 600 pounds. Imagine, if a hybrid car meets an accident right beside the city's water supply. That would be totally destructive. No need to mention about the battery, what do you do with that down the road. Think about 20 years ahead, all the hybrid cars sitting in junk yards with leaking heavy metals into the soil from their batteries.

Many of the supporters will say that these batteries will be recycled for new car but the fact is that Hybrids cars are using Nickel Metal Hydride batteries which will, after few years, will turn obsolete and replaced with Lithium Ion Batteries. Hybrids are just in vogue and unluckily they are contributing more damage than to do well to our planet. More information is given in a guide at Gas Conversion Kits

Must be wondering, what other thing is there which can run our cars?

We have to face the reality that our entire economy is becoming dependent on cheap and fast transportation. If there is a solution which not only keep our cars running but also have positive effect on environment, then don't we have the responsibility of exploring the technique in depth?

What is that technique?

Few years back there had been talks of burning hydrogen which emits only steam into the air. The negative aspect is that hydrogen is dangerous, extremely dangerous. To say the least, driving cars with hydrogen tanks would be concerning. Large amount is being invested to make thick tanks for hydrogen transportation, when there is a much easier solution, a solution that you can create yourself with the Run auto with Water Guide.

You must ask,if this is so easy to do, why the car companies are not offering it? I would take you a century back when cars were first created, as we know them. Do train companies turn into car companies? No, not at all, it was small inventors and machinists who made experiments which resulted into most of the major auto companies that we know now and exist today. The Wright brothers who were mocked non-stop for their attempts to fly were mere bicycle shop owners.

So the same logic applies that if the big companies of that age didn't do it, why the big companies of the day aren't doing it now. Obviously because of "Money". They'd have to make huge investments to manufacture current technologies and building relative infrastructure to support this technology. So their shareholders won't be kind enough if they turned all of that on their ears.

So its time to take our own steps to save the world.

We have an easy solution. Like Wright Brothers, Dodge Brothers or Mr. Diesel: Water, water consists of hydrogen and oxygen. While 'Burning" is a chemical reaction of fuel and oxygen and if you are able to separate hydrogen from the oxygen in water, you have the fuel to run your car engine. I won't put you in technical terminology but we have several methods to do this separation. It is not a direct split though, but an alteration of water to turn into gas which can burn.

There are two gases
1) Brown Gas
2) HHO.
These are effectively the same for average person's needs. You can see more about the techniques at Drive car with Water and Save website from the resource given below.

Burning of HHO or Brown Gas is much better for our planet than simply burning the Hydrogen!

Think over what I explained above. Almost everything that burns is because of a reaction with oxygen. The output of burning Hydrogen is that you combine oxygen and hydrogen and make water. Though this is not bad actually but it doesn't help the areas which are already low on oxygen.

The 'Air' naturally contains 15% oxygen and if it droped down to 5%, humans would start to die. There are places like Tokyo, Japan that have had oxygen as low as 6-7% at times which really is dangerously low. If you start with water and create Brown Gas or HHO, the thing which will be going out from your car tailpipe will be nothing but oxygen. That's right! Simply O.

So can we save money on gas and help the environment?

This is what I asked when I first started to explore about this technology. I found many wild and weird claims which stated that you can run your car 100% on water with 0% use of gas. I made still deeper research and concluded that its true! But you have to fill the entire car tank with water to produce sufficient HHO or Brown Gas to run you car.

After that I researched about the Hydrogen Car Kits which enhance your car but also do not claim to pull it off of gas permanently. These looked more viable and reasonable. I have good knowledge how cars work and what are the emissions. Most of the people must know about the little thing in their car known as Catalytic Convertor. This is fitted into the exhaust pipe and gets really hot. The reason behind this is that your engine does not actually burn all the gas and most of it is expelled in a toxic and half burnt stew. Consequently the Catalytic Convertor gets hot and finishes the burn.Adding the hydrogen to the air-fuel mixture in a car's engine will burn the gas more completely as the hydrogen is highly flammable. This will result into vast increase in efficiency of your car engine. This is better for you as well as for the environment!

Is this for our cars too?

Yes, almost every car which runs on gas can do this! For the diesel car owners, they too have an alternative in shape of vegetable oil! You have options to either buy expensive kits, or you can buy the "Run Auto With Water" guides which help you to pick up the parts from any hardware store and convert your car yourself!Make positive deliberations on it, any ebook and materials with a cost under $200 that can accumulate as many as $10 every time you fill up! I have no idea about you, but it took me not even two months to make it up. And with holidays around the corner I can get back an expense like that in few weeks time.

We have bought a few of these kits and fixed them up into our cars and also spending extensive time on the internet, finding people who have installed and observing which works and which doesn't.
